Default Show "Marked" Accounts when trading

First i must say, that we finally got rid of all that trading in the chat channel. Its now really lovley to be in a city, and turn off the trade channel - and really be able to talk to others - if thats what we want to.

Next i think its a great idea to "mark" the accounts who dont follow the rules. But its a bad idea to remove the marks again i think - but to newbies in the game - a few marks can be removed over time (cause they have to learn the game - and maybe foreing language).

BUT - i think it would be a great idea if the number of "Marks" would be shown, when people are trading - then we will soon get rid of people who scam others - cause no one will do trade with them.

When people report scammers - the scammers might not be banned (i have reported many - and i still see some of them in game).. But then Anet have the possibility to "Mark" the account instead (if they dont want to ban the scammer) - and when the the scammer try to trade others later - their number of "Marks" will be shown with a "red flashing number" - to warn the other player.

This would require a fairly large group of "moderators" as you cant just go on reports from other users and so would need a large man force behind it to work very well [to decide who gets "marked"] that or Arenanet have another thing to do that will eat up development time for GWEN and GW2 so because of this and in general other reasons concerning this im going.

its a great idea it would just take to much work

/signed - scammers should be punnished

Why would it need so many new staff? Do they not play GW at all? Can't they do a bit of mod work as they map travel through Kamadam or where ever

Love the no trade in local - theres still some spammers but once they get banned they may learn

No, this shouldn't be implemented. ArenaNet's job, in my opinion, is to make the game as fluid, user friendly, and enjoyable as possible. They should not have to babysit us or watch every action we take as though we're children wandering around a playpin.

I have had several scammers try and take advantage of me, the most common being the gold trick. I pay attention to the trade window. One guy tried to pay me 9 gold for an ecto (back when they were worth 8-9k) and I wouldn't have it. Another did the same thing, trying to pay for a 45k shield with 45g.

It is up to the player to remain vigilant against scumbags, not ArenaNet. So tread carefully out there in the market. It's your responsibility to protect your assets.

You could not be more wrong.
If ArenaNet will make a nice game, where we can live in peace and harmony - then its a bad idea, just letting people scam others - and have the opinion that its their own fault.
For newbies its a bad experience to be scammed early in the game - and i know several guys, who stopped playing GW, because they got scammed.
For "hardcore" gamers - we just laugh at the poor scammers - and report them - if we bother doing that...
When the game is free of scammers - then newbies will have a positiv experience playing and trading - and they hopefully will continue playing GW. As it is now - i think TOO MANY stops playing GW (after a short time), because they get scammed - and no one will help them.

Technicolour -> I dont think it would give ArenaNet more work - implementing the "Mark" system, because i hope they already are reading the scammer reports we make ??? The "only" extra work will be to implement it in the game.

I feel this idea crosses from "nice" to "smothering." In a game where the community actively interacts with each other, it should be common knowledge that as in real life, some people will be total jerks. Once again, I say it is up to the player to discern, and by the way...getting scammed and learning how to avoid it is part of the game, either if you get ripped off or you fall victim to someone's quick actions. This of course, being due to the massive community involvement.

Now, people quitting the game over being scammed once or twice makes it seem they were never very interested in GW to begin with. Case in point: On my first day I found a black dye. Guess where I sold it to? The merchant. For one gold.

I found wing's axe once, back when it was worth 30-35k. I sold it for 2k. Did the buyer notify me of this? No. He took advantage of my poor knowledge. So you roll with the punches and you learn.

Why should ArenaNet shelter us from other people to such an extreme degree? Anyway, those are my last two cents on the matter.

You learn, you play, you go on your merry way.

Im happy you see my point - REAL life - when we dont have any "police" (ArenaNet) - then people scam others (mugging and so) - and in Real Life - they are to be punished - and excluded from the community ("Marked" accounts) - thats how it should be in GW too.

People ARE quitting the game, when they have too many bad expiriences with it. Like in real life - it takes ten good experiences to compensate for one bad experience, and that will never happen, if people are "minding their own buisness", annd dont help others.

And selling to merchants - i think we all have done that when we started playing. Only to laugh about now ;-)

Instead of doing what you want people to do - minding their own buisness - then tell people (newbies) what eg. Imperial Commendations are worth - and where to trade them, when they will sell them for 50g. Then they discover that GW is a nice game - and maybe they will help others - instead of "minding their own buisness"..

yea i actually rather like this idea, and i believe you guys are looking at it the wrong way.

yes in rl you do get screwed because people suck, but rl sucks..... and you wanna know something 90% of people who play gw want to escape from RL for a while......

also i dont believe we would need more moderators, make it a player option. you have the option of marking a player who has scammed you. now i know it would be abused a bit, some losers just marking every one, but when one person has like 200 marks you know something is up.
